Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 toll in Odisha went up to 5,172 on Tuesday with 56 new deaths reported in the past 24 hours.
Khurda continued to top the district chart with 19 deaths. It was followed by 8 deaths in Sundargarh, 6 each in Bargarh and Mayurbhanj, 3 each in Kendrapada, Keonjhar and Puri, 2 in Malkangiri and one each in Cuttack, Deogarh, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Koraput and Sambalpur districts.
So far, Khurda district has reported 935 deaths followed by Sundargarh (448), Ganjam (422), Cuttack (315), Puri (310), Bargarh (254), Angul (200), Kalahandi (193), Mayurbhanj (191), Balasore (159), Rayagada (152), Sambalpur (154), Nayagarh (139), Jharsuguda (137), Kendrapada (114) and Dhenkanal (102).
In another development, the Health and Family Welfare Department has clarified that the toll list does not reflect deaths occurring on a particular day.
It gives details of past deaths for which an audit has been completed and the cause of death is confirmed as COVID-19.
