Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported 638 fresh COVID infections and 68 more deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the active cases and toll to 7255 and 7969 respectively on Tuesday.
With these new cases being detected from 57,280 samples, the test positivity rate rose to 1.11 per cent from 0.93 per cent the previous day when 609 of 64991 samples were found infected.
The infection rate among children and adolescents also climbed to 17.2 per cent with 110 in the age group of 0-18 years testing positive. It was 15.8 per cent on Monday.
According to the I & PR department, 367 are from quarantine and 271 local contacts.
Khurda district registered the highest of 260 fresh infections, followed by Cuttack (57) and Jajpur (34).
