Bhubaneswar: Odisha saw 849 new COVID cases, including 120 in the age group of 0-18 years, in the last 24 hours, taking the active cases tally to 7345 on Friday.
There has been a consistent rise in the daily caseload – 719 and 754 new infections were reported on September 1 and September 2 respectively – since the state announced more relaxations in the COVID norms on August 31.
According to the I & PR department, 495 of the new cases are from quarantine and 354 are local contacts.
Khurda reported the highest of 341 cases followed by Cuttack (117). These two districts accounted for 53 per cent of the new infections.
With these cases detected from 71,248 samples, the test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 1.19 per cent. The infection rate among children and adolescents remained at 14 per cent for the second consecutive day.
