Mumbai: Former Indian batsman from Odisha Shiv Sunder Das is among the contenders vying to become part of the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) new senior men’s selection committee.
Nayan Mongia, Maninder Singh and Ajay Ratra are the other prominent names.
The deadline for applications closed on Monday (November 28). The BCCI is now likely to form a Cricket Advisory Committee to conduct interviews. The first assignment for the new selection panel will be to pick the Indian team for the limited-overs series at home against Sri Lanka in 2023, ESPNcricinfo reported.
Das is currently serving as a batting coach to Punjab. He was one of the coaches at the National Cricket Academy and had stints with the Indian women’s team.
Notably, his former Odisha team-mate Debasis Mohanty has completed his five-year term as a selector and Das could replace him if selected.
