Bhubaneswar: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable was arrested for withdrawing over Rs 8 lakh from the account of a senior officer (Sub Inspector) in the capital city.
The Constable has been identified as Priyabrata Priyadarsana Pati from Kalapada of Cuttack district.
Acting on a complaint filed by CRPF Sub Inspector, Nayapalli police arrested Pati who was engaged in taking care of the SI, who was unwell.
As the SI unable to move out, he gave his ATM card to Pati asking him to withdraw cash. Instead, Pati fraudulently withdrew Rs 8.39 lakh from the SI’s bank account over a period of time.
On learning about the fraud, the Sub Inspector lodged an FIR at Nayapalli police station.
During interrogation, the constable revealed that had drawn the money to invest in share market. Police also recovered the money, said sources.
