Koraput: A Consumer Court in Jeypore in Odisha’s Koraput district has ordered a realtor to pay Rs 30.80 to a home-buyer for delay in handing over flat.
According to sources, the builder Jogendra Sai had promised the buyer to hand over possession in December 2022. The buyer, K Suman, had paid around Rs 17 lakh during agreement in 2020, against a total value of Rs 21 lakh for the flat.
The flat was to be provided in an upcoming property at Nehru Nagar in Jeypore. However, Suman did not get possession as promised following which he moved the Consumer Court in December 2022.
The court in its order directed the builder to pay Rs 20 lakh along with an 6 per cent interest amounting to Rs 30.80 lakh. The consumer court has asked the builder to pay the amount within one month of issuance of the order, sources added.
