Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has deployed Fire Service personnel at COVID hospitals to prevent accidents due to blazes.
Sources said as many as 384 fire fighters equipped with the necessary equipment were deployed at each of the 62 COVID hospitals in the state. The fire personnel will be on duty 24 hours and work in three shifts.
They are also raising awareness against fire accidents among hospital employees and training them through mock drills, the sources added.
Notably, a fire broke out in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a COVID hospital at Jagatpur in Cuttack district in September 2020. Such instances have also been reported from other states.
