Prayagraj: Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, K V Singh Deo, Deputy, took a sacred dip in Sangam at the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela near Prayagraj on Monday.
KV and his family members immersed themselves seven times, symbolising their remembrance of the Saptalok or seven cosmic realms, in accordance with the traditions.
During the dip, he prayed for the well-being and prosperity of the people of Odisha and sought divine protection from natural calamities. He also wished for peace, development, and the spread of progress to every village in the state.
The deputy chief minister was accompanied by his wife Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo, who is a Member of Parliament from Odisha’s Balangir, and their daughter Nivriti Kumari Mewar.
This came a day after Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who is on a three-day trip to Uttar Pradesh, and his family took a dip in the sacred waters.
Mahakumbh Mela that takes place once in 144 years, has attracted several dignitaries, including top politicians from across the country. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah took their dips at the Triveni Sangam. Over 6 crore people have taken part in the bathing ritual till now.
