Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida held a meeting with the Indian High Commissioner in the United Kingdom during her visit to London.
During the meeting, she held discussion regarding ways to boost tourism by attracting more visitors to Odisha. The focus was on steps required for strengthening ties in the tourism sector, sources said.
Parida, who holds the Tourism portfolio, highlighted the potential of the tourism sector in Odisha during the deliberations. “The Deputy CM had a productive meeting with the High Commissioner of India in the United Kingdom and discussed ways to boost tourism and strengthen ties in the tourism sector,” said an official.
Parida was accompanied by Development Commissioner Anu Garg and top officials.
It may be noted that the Deputy CM is on a seven-day tour to London since November 2.
Parida is scheduled to attend a programme to promote tourism titled ‘Tourism Odyssey: Strengthening ties with Diaspora and Industry Leaders” in London.
She will speak on attractive tourist spots in Odisha to attract foreign visitors to the state. Besides, she will highlight the tourism potential of the state to seek foreign direct investment, official sources said.
Parida’s visit to the European city is expected to attract foreign tourists to Odisha and boost investment in the tourism sector in the state.
The Deputy CM had earlier announced that the state government is planning to formulate an adventure tourism policy to attracts tourists from other states and countries to Odisha.
