Bhubaneswar: The GST Council has reconstituted its ministerial panel and Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo has been nominated as a member.
Finance ministers from other states are members of this council, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who holds the Finance portfolio, has nominated Deputy CM Singh Deo as its member, sources said on Monday.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is the convenor of this council, while Haryana’s Finance Minister Jai Parkash Dalal, Chhattisgarh’s Finance Minister OP Choudhary, Delhi’s Finance Minister Atishi Marlena, Assam’s Finance Minister Ajanta Neog, Andhra Pradesh’s Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav, and Tamil Nadu’s Finance Minister Thangam Thenarasu are also members of this council.
The panel will focus on identifying and eliminating technical glitches in the GST system, analyzing data to increase revenue, and establishing a harmonious relationship between the central and state governments. It will also suggest timelines for the effective implementation of various changes in the GST system.
Notably, the first ministerial panel was formed during the 45th GST Council meeting in Lucknow in September 2021 and has been reconstituted this month.
