Bhubaneswar: Odisha found itself in the frenzy surrounding US presidential election after former president and Republican candidate Donald Trump’s campaign team shared an AI-transformed image on Monday.
In the finely morphed image, Trump, former first lady Melania Trump and billionaire businessman Elon Musk were re-imagined as typical Indian politicians on campaign trail, having a hearty full-course meal from sal leaf plates in a village household.
The original picture dates back to 2018 when the BJP leaders had a lunch at Dalit daily wager Maheswar Suna’s house at Deogaon village in Balangir district as a part of the party’s Pravash programme to reach out to people in the run up to the 2019 general elections in Odisha. Shah was then accompanied by K V Singh Deo, the present Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, his wife and current Balangir MP Sangeeta Singh Deo and a host of state BJP functionaries, including Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram.
In the AI-generated picture, Trump replaced KV while Melania was morphed over a saree-clad Balangir MP with Elon Musk in the shoes of big man Shah.
The TrumpUpdateHQ posted both the original and the re-imagined versions of the picture with a question, “Which one looks original?”
KV found the viral image amusing and said that this proves the influence of Indian diaspora in American elections.
