Bhubaneswar: Lobhabati Parida, mother of Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, breathed her last on Wednesday night while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Cuttack. She was 89.
A resident of Nuahaat Nibharana in Puri district, she is survived by her five children, with Pravati being her third child.
According to sources, Lobhabati was keeping unwell for the past few days. Pravati left for her village after learning about her demise. The last rites will be performed at Nuahaat Nibharana.
A pall of gloom descended on Niyali and Nimapara following her demise.
In his condolence message, Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo wrote: “A mother’s place in life is always special and unique. No one can ever take the place of a mother. I am deeply saddened to hear the news that my friend Smt Parida lost her mother Lobhabati today. May Lord Jagannath give her and her family the strength to face this difficult situation.”
