Cuttack: Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay has praised the professionalism and compassion of the Special Operation Group (SOG) personnel by saving the life of an injured Maoist during an encounter in the cut-off area in Malkangiri district.
The DGP said that during an exchange of fire between the SOG personnel and Maoists on November 26, one Maoist was injured. Later, the SOG personnel rushed him to the district headquarters hospital covering more than 150 km by foot, two-wheeler, and a four-wheeler. The Maoist is out of danger as he has been given proper treatment.
The DGP said that though the Maoists fired at the SOG personnel to kill them, the latter did their best to save his life thereby following the highest tradition of compassion and professionalism of Odisha Police. “We congratulate the SOG team and take pride in their professionalism and compassion,” he added.
