Bhubaneswar: In a case artistic liberty going wrong, a scene in a Tamil movie dubbed in Hindi has a picture of the current director general of police (DGP) of Odisha KB Singh among those projected as martyrs. The Hindi version of the movie was released on May 5.
Though Singh laughed the matter off, Odisha Police Association has demanded an apology from the filmmaker.
“It initially came as a shock but then I couldn’t help but laugh at the faux pas. Perhaps, they were searching for police martyrs on the internet and downloaded my photo by mistake. If possible, I will draw the attention of the film’s director and producer,” the DGP told an English daily.
Terming it as a serious issue, the OPA has decided to move court. “The filmmaker has made a mockery of the state’s police chief. Any insult to our head is also an insult to entire Odisha police. Since the movie is dubbed in Hindi, a number of people will watch it in Odisha. We seek an apology from them,” said OPA president Satyajit Mishra.
