Bhubaneswar: Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay on Tuesday thanked Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for taking steps to strengthen the police’s Special Task Force (STF) against drug trafficking in Odisha.
The DGP told the media that Odisha Police have been taking concerted action against drug trafficking in recent times with the STF taking a leading role. On its part, the state government has approved all proposals of the state police to strengthen the STF, he added.
“The state government has sanctioned the creation of 27 new posts for the STF including a senior police officer in the rank of SP and three officers in the rank of DSP. The government has also sanctioned a dedicated unit to target drug trafficking in the state,” Abhay said.
The top cop further said Odisha Police are giving the highest priority to the fight against drug trafficking as per the direction of the Chief Minister.
He also assured the government as well as the people of Odisha that the STF will continue to excel in its fight against drug trafficking.
