Cuttack: Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay on Tuesday thanked the police fraternity for the smooth conduct of Rath Yatra in Puri.
He said the state police personnel successfully conducted the mega festival, which went on smoothly without the devotees, amid COVID-19 pandemic.
The DGP also thanked the people of Odisha, especially the residents of Puri for their wholehearted cooperation as they remained indoors and watched the proceedings of the annual festival without congregating on Bada Danda.
“The people of Puri deserve the acclaim as they strictly adhered to the Supreme Court guidelines which had mandated that the festival should be conducted by the sevayats of the Jagannath temple and the policemen,” the DGP pointed out.
