Nuapada: Odisha DGP Sunil Kumar Bansal arrived in Nuapada on Sunday on a daylong visit to the district.
After arriving here at 10 am, Bansal held a meeting with district officials and discussed security arrangements for the upcoming panchayat polls in Odisha.
Later, talking to media persons, Bansal said that adequate police and security personnel will be provided to the district to ensure the polls were held smoothly and peacefully.
The DGP also reviewed the Maoist situation in the district and praised police and security personnel engaged in anti-Maoist operations.
He said that combing operations against Maoists will be intensified ahead of the polls.
IG (Operations) Amitabh Thakur and South Western Range DIG Rajesh Pandit are accompanying Bansal among other top officials.
