Nayagarh: A paediatrician posted at the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Odisha’s Nayagarh and two of his associates were detained on Monday for allegedly running a clinic from his official quarters.
The matter came to light after the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Dr Makaranda Beura conducted a surprise check at the quarters of the child specialist, Dr Asish Dixit, after receiving several complaints.
He was running the clinic from his official quarters during duty hours and collecting Rs 300 towards fees from each patient, sources said.
“After duty hours, doctors of government hospitals can see patients at their residences. In this case, Dr Dixit’s name was found missing from the OPD doctors’ list. He was instead providing OPD services at his quarters,” said Dr Beura.
