Rayagada: Encountering an awkward situation due to the ongoing drivers’ strike in Odisha, a groom, his kin and the members of his wedding party had to walk to the bride’s village all through the night in Sunakhandi Panchayat under Kalayansinghpur block of Rayagada district.
The members of the wedding party decided to walk all the way to the bride’s village on Thursday night after they got stuck on the way due to the drivers’ agitation. Unable to get any transportation, they had to undertake the arduous journey.
Sources said the village of the bride was 28 km from the place where the wedding party was stranded.
The worried family had no other option left, but decided that they have to walk to the bride’s village to hold the marriage even though trekking to such a long distance, that too at night, was an uphill task.
The groom along his marriage party started walking and covered 28 km all through the night to reach the bride’s house on Thursday night. The marriage was solemnized. The entire walk had been video recorded.
The incident came to the fore on Friday after it went viral in social media. It has become the talk of the town in the area.
