Bhubaneswar: Odisha stalwart Deep Grace Ekka has been named vice-captain of the Indian women’s hockey team that will travel to Europe next month for the next set of FIH Pro League matches.
Savita will lead the team which will play Belgium, The Netherlands, Argentina and the USA on a double-leg basis in Belgium and Netherlands from June 11.
Double Olympian Deep Grace, a solid defender, was the team’s deputy in last year’s Tokyo Gmes as well.
Interestingly, the Indian men will be led by Odisha’s Amit Rohidas in the next batch of FIH Pro League games around the same time in Belgium and Netherlands.
While the Indian women are currently in second place behind Argentina, the Indian men’s team are top of the table with 4 games remaining.
