Bhubaneswar: Farmers in Odisha can now register to sell their paddy to the government for the 2025-26 Kharif Marketing Season, Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra informed on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters, Patra announced that the registration process has been simplified, allowing farmers to submit a self-declaration form, which has been distributed across all districts. The registration deadline has been extended from August 20 to August 25. “The process will be completed by August 30,” he added.
This decision addresses challenges faced by farmers due to difficulties in submitting documents like consent letters from legal heirs, co-sharers, and genealogy reports from the revenue inspector.
The Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Department has sent the self-declaration form to district collectors to ensure a smooth registration process and guarantee eligible farmers access to the minimum support price (MSP). Paddy procurement for the Kharif season is slated to begin in the first week of November.
