Odisha Economic Corridor Part Of Centre’s National Industrial Corridor Development Programme

New Delhi: The Odisha Economic Corridor (OEC) is among 11 Industrial Corridor Projects that the Central government is developing in a phased manner as part of the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme across the country.

OEC comprises of 11 industrial clusters spanning approximately 600 km along National Highway 16, with a total project area of 11,366 acres of land, according to National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Ltd.

They are classified into two zones — Zone 1 (4748 acres) Gopalpur-Bhubaneswar-Kalinganagar (GBK) and Zone 2 (6618 acres) Paradip-Kendrapada-Dhamra-Subernarekha (PKDS) – which have been identified for development and project development activities.

The Indian government, through National Industrial Corridor Development & Implementation Trust (NICDIT), provides funds as equity/debt for the development of world-class trunk infrastructure in the industrial nodes/regions under industrial corridors and the states are responsible for making available contiguous and encumbrance free land parcels.

Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry Som Parkash said in a written reply in Rajya Sabha that DPIIT has sanctioned and released funds amounting to Rs 9,899.89 crore for the Industrial Corridor Project so far, of which Rs 9,816.98 crore has been utilised.

Following are the 10 other industrial corridors being developed by the government:

* Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC)

* Chennai Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC)

* Amritsar Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC)

* East Coast Industrial Corridor (ECIC) with Vizag Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC)

* Bengaluru Mumbai Industrial Corridor (BMIC)

* Extension of CBIC to Kochi via Coimbatore

* Hyderabad Nagpur Industrial Corridor (HNIC)

* Hyderabad Warangal Industrial Corridor (HWIC)

* Hyderabad Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (HBIC)

* Delhi Nagpur Industrial Corridor (DNIC).
