Odisha Elections 2024: 63.85% Voter Turnout By 6 PM; Nabarangpur Records Highest Polling

Bhubaneswar: The approximate voter turnout in the first phase of polling in Odisha was estimated to be 63.85% by 6 pm.

The polling for simultaneous election to Lok Sabha and state Assembly was held in 4 Parliamentary constituencies of Berhampur, Koraput Kalahandi and Nabarangpur and 28 Assembly segments under those seats. The Parliamentary constituencies covered 8 districts in the state.

According to the office of chief electoral officer (CEO) in Bhubaneswar, highest polling was recorded in Nabarangpur Assembly seat where 73.44% of voters exercised their franchise.

On the other hand, the prestigious Berhampur Assembly segment witnessed the lowest voter turnout with 47.90% of voters casting their votes.

The CEO office, however, said this was the approximate trend of voting. The turnout figure may go up as the voters were still waiting in queue to cast their votes by 5 pm.

In 2019 elections, first phase Turnout was the state had recorded 66% turnout of voters in the first phase. Today’s figures may come closer to 2019 turnout after revision on Tuesday.

By 3 pm on the day, about 53% of voters had cast their votes. While Kalahandi Parliamentary constituency registered the highest 58%, it was followed by Nabarangpur with 56%, Koraput 53% and Berhampur 45%.

More than 60% polling was recorded in two Assembly seats of Narla and Jharigaon. While Narla recorded the highest voting of 61.65%, the lowest polling of 37.23% was reported from Berhampur Assembly seat.
