Bhubaneswar: Odisha recorded a voter turnout of over 69.34 per cent in the second phase of Lok Sabha and Assembly elections held on Monday in the state.
The second round of polling was held on Monday in five Lok Sabha constituencies of Aska, Balangir, Kandhamal, Sundargarh and Bargarh and 35 Assembly segments under these Parliamentary seats.
As per official sources, Bargarh Lok Sabha constituency recorded a voter turnout of 76.20% followed by Balangir with 71. 46%.
Similarly, Aska recorded 60.78% voter turnout, Kandhamal 70.37% and Sundargarh 67.74%.
While 40 candidates are in the fray in the five Lok Sabha seats, 265 contestants are trying theirs fortune in 35 Assembly segments during the second phase polling.
Prominent candidates whose fate was sealed after the second phase of polling include Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, veteran tribal leader and former Union Minister Jual Oram, former Union Minister Dilip Ray and several Odisha Ministers.
