Bhubaneswar: The BJP raised the bar of its election campaign in Odisha by challenging the BJD to remove the electricity consumption meters from the houses if the party was serious about its promise of free power to the people.
Addressing a presser in Bhubaneswar on Saturday, BJP’s state vice-president Golak Mohapatra said the promise of free power supply made by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was only a poll gimmick.
“If the chief minister really wants to provide free power, we challenge him to direct the electricity department to remove the meters of domestic consumers installed in their houses,” Mohapatra said.
Stating that BJD was a party of lies and falsehood, the BJP leader said the ruling party in the state has been copying the plans and policies of the Central government. “As per the BJD’s habit, the chief minister is now imitating Prime Minister’s ‘Modi KI Guarantee’ slogan and speaking about BJD’s guarantee,” he added.
Claiming that the people of Odisha have already read through the fake propaganda of the BJD, Mohapatra said the BJP, on the other hand, has fulfilled its promises made in the last elections. “We are going to the voters on the strength of the achievements of BJP government at the Centre. We don’t have to make fake promises to the people to come to power. We will fulfill whatever we have mentioned in our manifesto,” he added.
