Bhubaneswar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) moved Odisha’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) accusing the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) of misusing Mission Shakti women in its election campaign.
A BJP delegation led by the saffron party’s state spokesperson Urmila Mohapatra visited the office of the CEO and submitted a petition alleging that the ruling BJD was blatantly violating the model code of conduct (MCC)
In its complaint, BJP alleged that that two senior officers named Ambika Das and Binod Jena have created a WhatsApp group and are asking community resource persons (CRPs) and master book keepers (MBKs) to work for the BJD ahead of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state.
Claiming that BJD organisational secretary Pranab Prakash Das is a member of the group, BJP demanded stringent action against those involved in use of Mission Shakti members in election campaign.
This apart, the saffron party also objected to photos found on OSRTC bus tickets, saying it amounted to gross violation of model code of conduct. BJP demanded appropriate action against the violators to ensure free and fair election.
