Odisha Elections 2024: Booth Presiding Officer Suspended For Dereliction Of Duty

Jagatsinghpur: Presiding Officer of a polling booth in Niali Assembly constituency of Odisha was suspended for dereliction of election duty during 4th and final phase polling in the state on Saturday.

Sources said the presiding officer of the booth number 75 of Niali Assembly Constituency under Jaghatsinghpur Lok Saha seat was placed under suspension for lapse in poll duty. He was identified as Laxmi Narayan Das, a lecturer.

It was alleged that the presiding officer was functioning in a partisan manner and trying to influence voters during polling. Following a complaint, the authorities examined the matter and decided to take action against him.

The presiding officer was suspended by Cuttack Collector Arindam Dakua as per the decision.
