Bhubaneswar: In a bid to further boost the confidence of the party workers for the elections in Odisha, BJP’s five senior leaders participated in a roadshow in Balsaore on Saturday.
The saffron party’s state president Manmohan Samal and Lok Sabha candidates Baijayant Panda for Kendrapada, Aparajita Sarangi for Bhubaneswar, Dharmendra Pradhan for Sambalpur and Pratap Sarangi for Balasore took part in the roadshow.
Hundreds of BJP workers took out a bike rally as part of the roadshow that went around the town. The BJP leaders were greeted by the people standing on both sides of the road during the rally.
Speaking on the sideline of the roadshow, Samal said the roadshow was part of the BJP’s strategy to reach out to people in as many constituencies as possible. “As our party is fighting against both BJD which is in power and the Congress, we have to put in all our efforts to mobilise the support of the people. We want to reach our manifesto and vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the voters. We feel that the people want a change in government and we want to assure them of a clean and transparent administration, if BJP is voted to power.”
Following the roadshow, the senior leaders of BJP held a closed door meeting with the party workers to hammer out strategy for fourth and last phase of elections in the state. The leaders addressed the party workers and spoke on the finer points of campaign and other aspects.
Speaking to the media later, Aparajita said the bike rally which was taken out by hundreds of party workers showed their enthusiasm and involvement in the election process. The people’s participation in the roadshow also indicated that the BJP would definitely win the election and come to power, she added.
The polling in Balasore Lok Sabha constituencies and 7 Assembly segments under it will be held on June 1. BJP’s Sarangi is facing Lekhasri Samantasinghar of BJD and Srikant Jena of Congress.
