Odisha Elections 2024: ‘MLA Aspirant’ Amarendra Das Dons Saffron Cap After Quitting BJD

He reached the party headquarters in Bhubaneswar this morning in a huge procession of supporters.

Amarendra had quit the BJD on April 4 and his resignation was seen as a protest against the party’s decision to give ticket to sitting MLA Prasant Muduli for Jagatsingpur Assembly seat. The party had managed to appease him by awarding the district president post during the 2019 polls. Later, he was dropped from the post with Muduli taking charge and appointed as chairman of Cashew Development Corporation.

In March, Amarendra’s supporters organised a massive get-together at Alipingala under Jagatsinghpur block, fuelling speculation about Das being a top contender for BJD ticket for the Jagatsinghpur seat.
