Koraput: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday launched a marathon campaign covering four districts in south Odisha to bolster the party’s prospects in the upcoming elections.
Naveen’s election campaign, which commenced in Koraput will continue till evening. Soon after landing at Jeypore, the BJD supremo proceeded to Koraput to attend the regional party’s election campaign to seek people’s support.
Notably, BJD had lost Koraput Lok Sabha seat in 2019 elections when Congress candidate Saptagiri Ulaka had emerged victorious in the tribal-dominated constituency. Saptagiri, who had defeated BJD’s Kaushalya Hikaka last time, has been renominated by Congress for the upcoming polls.
After addressing an impressive rally at Koraput, the Chief Minister is scheduled to address election meetings in Nabarangpur, Rayagada and Gajapati districts. The CM is accompanied by his close aide V K Pandian.
After completing campaign at Nabarangpur, BJD’s number one star campaigner will visit Rayagada and join a meeting at 3.40 pm. Thereafter, Naveen Patnaik will continue their campaign at Paralakhemundi in Ganajati at 5 pm.
The BJD chief had earlier kicked off the party’s election campaign with a rally at Hinjili of Ganjam district. Meanwhile, the CM and 5T chairman appealed people to vote for BJD twice once for MP and then for MLA.
