Bhubaneswar: Police have seized more than Rs 10 lakh unaccounted cash from a car in Odisha’s Boudh district on Monday.
According to sources, a static surveillance team (SST) of Purunakatak police station in the district was engaged in checking the vehicles at Madhapur check-post on the border with Nayagarh district. The team intercepted an SUV at the check-post.
On checking the vehicle, the team found more than Rs 10 lakh in cash. They also found banners and posters of a political party. Besides the driver, two women were travelling in the car.
As the occupants of the car could not produce document in favour of the cash nor explain its sources, they were detained in the police station. The car has also been seized.
The polling in Boudh Assembly seat under Phulbani Parliamentary constituency is scheduled to be held in 2nd phase of election in the state on May 20.
