Bargarh: Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC have been imposed in some areas of Odisha’s Bargarh district as a precautionary measure to maintain peace during and after counting of votes for the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections on Tuesday.
Official sources said that the authorities concerned have ordered imposition of restrictions under Section 144 in Bargarh sub-division and areas under Padampur and Bijepur Assembly constituencies in the western Odisha district.
In Bargarh, sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Kumar Nagabhushan said that there would be restriction on unlawful assemblies and prohibition of holding of public meetings during the day of counting on Tuesday.
Three-tier security cordoning system is being set up in all counting premises to prevent the entry of unauthorised persons inside the counting centres.
Victory processions after declaration of results have also been prohibited under the provisions of Section 144. Steps are being taken to prevent any clash between different groups.
Similarly, Padampur SDM Arun Kumar Patel has issued an order for imposition of prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC around the premises of counting centre for Padampur and Bijepur Assembly constituencies.
