Bhubaneswar: A unique polling booth set up with an eco-friendly betel vine theme welcomed the voters in Kakatpur assembly constituency of Odisha where voting for the 4th and final phase is underway on Saturday.
The specially designed polling booth seeks to celebrate the local economic activity that is vital to the community in the area.
The booth was made possible due to an innovative idea of the office of Odisha’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO). The aim is to promote inclusive electoral participation in the voting process, catering to voters of all ages, sources said.
The booth is designed to be accessible and welcoming to everyone, with amenities and facilities that ensure a comfortable and hassle-free voting experience.
The booth as shared by the CEO Odisha’ official handle on X, is decorated with an abundance of beetle vines, which are meticulously arranged and regularly watered to maintain their freshness. The leaves are adorned with flowers, adding ample greens to beat the heat in the setting.
To ensure a comfortable voting experience, carefully decorated water-soaked thatched straws are arranged in files to keep the area cool. The thoughtful arrangement created an atmosphere that honours the community’s heritage and encourages citizens to cast their votes in a setting that celebrates their local traditions.
Various other polling booths with different themes have been set up in other parts of the state keeping in the democratic festival nationwide.
