Bhubaneswar: BJP leader of Kendrapada Bijayketan Swain along with his supporters joined BJD on Friday.
Swain, who is the former BJP candidate for Rajnagar Assembly seat, came to BJD headquarters Sankha Bhawan in Bhubaneswar with his supporters and officially joined the party.
BJD’s Rajya Sabha member Sasmit Patra, former minister Pratap Jena and party nominee for Rajnagar Dhruba Sahu welcomed Swain and more than 100 of his supporters.
Patra said Swain would further strengthen the party organisation, particularly in Rajnagar constituency.
Swain, on his part, said he joined the BJD as he was inspired by pro-people policies, visions and clean image of chief minister and party president Naven Patnaik.
“I will sincerely carry out whatever responsibility will be assigned to me by the party,” he added.
