Bhubaneswar: With the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha fast approaching, Congress all set to announce its candidates for the twin polls in the first week of next month.
Sharing this information, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Sarat Pattanayak told reporters on Monday that the party is in the process of finalising its candidates for both Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state.
“Efforts are on to release the list of candidates in the first week of April. We will announce the nominees much before the commencement of nomination process,” he said.
Meetings of the screening committee as well as the central election committee of the party are scheduled to be held in the first week of April in New Delhi and the candidates’ list will be out thereafter, the PCC chief said.
Stating that the party is fully prepared for the twin elections, Pattanayak said senior leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are slated to visit the state to campaign for party candidates.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Chief Ministers and Ministers from Congress-ruled states will also hit the campaign trail in the state to bolster the poll prospects of the party in Odisha, he said.
