Kendrapada/Jagatsinghpur: Intensifying his attack on opposition parties, BJD president and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday accused Kendrapada Lok Sabha candidate Baijayant Panda of betraying the people and working for the growth of his business.
“I made someone the MP from Kendrapada for ten years. However, he worked only for his own prosperity and the profit of his company without doing anything for the people,” the BJD supremo said while addressing an election meeting in the Lok Sabha constituency.
Without taking name, Naveen lashed out at the former MP, who is contesting from Kendrapada Lok Sabha constituency as BJP candidate this time.
“The people of Kendrapada gave him the responsibility of the area for ten years. He did nothing for the constituency and worked for himself. He betrayed me as well as the people of Kendrapada,” the Chief Minister claimed, apparently referring to Panda.
The CM urged the people to bless the Lok Sabha and Assembly candidates of Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
Refuting the allegation made by Naveen as false and baseless, Panda asserted that he has joined politics to serve the people and not to make property. The BJP leader dared the Chief Minister to probe the assets allegedly acquired by five Tamils.
The ruling party here is getting desperate and bringing false allegations; the turnout at their public meetings is low, and today I came to know that the CM has brought some allegations; I don’t blame him because whatever the Tamil Babu is prompting him by holding the mic in front, he is saying those things,” the BJP MP candidate said at poll rally in Patkura
Naveen, who also addressed election rallies of BJD in Jagatsinghpur and Rahama, accused the opposition parties, particularly BJP, of spreading lies about Odisha and his government.
“The opposition parties are shedding crocodile tears for the people of Odisha. They have no concern for the people of the state. They are only trying to mislead them in their desperate bid to gat votes in the elections,” said Naveen.
Asserting that Odisha will become the number one state in the country in ten years, the BJD chief sought people’s opinion on the various welfare and development schemes being implemented by the state government.
