Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday arrested Cuttack Sadar block assistant engineer Bikash Chandra Bhuyan for possession of alleged disproportionate assets (DA) to the tune of 183% of his known sources of income.
During simultaneous searches, movable and immovable assets, including a multi-storey building seven plots in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, bank deposits and jewellery, worth crores of rupees were unearthed in the name of Bhuyan and his family members.
> One double-storey well-furnished building of area 3572 sqft at Soubhagya Nagar, Bhubaneswar.
> Seven plots in prime area of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
> Bank deposits and jewellery over Rs 50 lakhs.
> Investment in crypto currency.
> One four wheeler (Duster) & 3 two wheelers worth Rs 13.40 lakh
> Cash & household articles worth Rs 11.73 lakh.
Besides, he had spent Rs 1 crore on engineering and medical education of his son and daughter.
“After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Bhuyan were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets which were 183% in excess of his known sources of income. Investigation of the case is in progress,” the Vigilance said in a release.
