Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday arrested Sanjaya Kumar Behera, Assistant Engineer in the office of Superintending Engineer, Rural Works Division, in Sundargarh for allegedl
y amassing disproportionate assets to the tune of 333% more than his known sources of income.
During simultaneous raids at seven places linked to Behera, two multi-storey buildings, as many plots and bank, postal and insurance deposits worth Rs 1.67 crore were unearthed. Another Rs 81.8 lakh was spent on medical education of his two children, a Vigilance release said.
DETAILS OF ASSETS UNEARTHED
1) A double-storey building of total area of 5,000 sqft at Jagannathpur, Bhadrak town.
2) A single-storey building at native village Bonth in Bhadrak district.
3) 2 Plots in Bhadrak and Jajpur town.
4) Bank, postal and insurance deposits worth Rs.1.67 crores.
5) 200 grams gold jewellery.
6) Cash, 2 two wheelers & household articles worth Rs.10.50 lakh.
Further investigation is underway.
