Bhubaneswar: Vigilance officials have so far recovered Rs 41.77 lakh in cash following raids on an Assistant Engineer of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA).
The raids on the properties of Baripada ITDA’s Assistant Engineer Santosh Kumar Das, went on till late Thursday night and are continuing on Friday, following allegations of possession of wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The Vigilance officials also recovered 659 gm gold ornaments, one car and three bikes, and unearthed several properties in the name of Das. Two four-storey buildings — one in Baragarh area in Bhubaneswar and another in Balasore – and five more plots were unearthed.
In the raids on Thursday that went on till late night, Vigilance officials seized over Rs 28.17 lakh cash and 659 gm gold from Das’s house in Balasore.
Earlier in the day, they had recovered Rs 13.6 lakh cash, taking the total amount of cash seized so far to Rs 41.77 lakh.
The searches are continuing today. Vigilance officials said Das has been brought to Britt Colony in Baragarh here, where his house is being searched.
