Jajpur: Women travellers often face issues during mensuration. Their woes compound as public toilets are ill-equipped to meet their needs.
With a will to do something for women and solve their menstruations problems, a young engineer Hrudananda Prusty of Tolakani village under Danagadi block in Jajpur district has come up with a project – Preeti.
Hrudananda, who is also the founder of ‘Unlock Smiles’, has presented the blueprint of the project to World Health Organisation panelist in New Delhi and the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
He has also informed to all the district Collectors of Odisha about the project ‘Preeti’.
Under project ‘Preeti’, a happiness kit including sanitary pads, sanitiser, tissue and cotton will be made available for women in the toilets. He has proposed to install the kits in public toilets and in schools, colleges, bus stands and stations.
During the time of travel or while on longer periods away from home, girls and women face lots of problems. If this project will be implemented in every public toilets, the women will not face any problem, says Hrudananda.
“It will also be helpful in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation,” he added.
Emphasis will be given to provide clean water in the toilets. Hrudananda has submitted a blueprint of the project ‘Preeti’ to WHO.
