Dhenkanal: The SDJM court, Kamakshyanagar, has sentenced Sanjay Kumar Satapathy, a former banking assistant, to 2 years of rigorous imprisonment for misappropriating Rs 1.15 crore from United Central Cooperative Bank, Angul.
He has also been slapped with a fine of Rs 13,000.
Satpathy along with three other staffers of the bank had misappropriated Rs.1,15,16,300 in 2015- 16 by crediting the amount to 65 different accounts from different heads of general ledger account through 187 transactions and subsequently withdrew it by using the user ID of the account holders.
The court pronounced the quantum of punishment on Wednesday after finding him guilty under Sections 409/467/468/471/477-A/120-B of IPC.
