Bhubaneswar: The Odisha vigilance on Friday arrested Sudipta Kumar Dash, the assistant sub-inspector of excise of Balungaon Circle in Khurda district, for allegedly amassing wealth to the tune of 173% more than his known sources of income.
During the house searches on Thursday, two double-storey building in Nayagarh old town, six plots in and around Nayagarh town, bank, postal and insurance deposits of Rs 21.32 lakh, 1.35 lakh in cash, 300 gram gold jewellery, a four-wheeler (Mahindra Bolero) and three two-wheelers and household articles worth over Rs 20.39 lakh were detected.
“After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Dash were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets which were 173% in excess of his known sources of income,” an official release said.
Further investigation in the matter is on, it added.
