Odisha Experiences Scorching Heat, Titlagarh Records 40.5°C

Bhubaneswar: Most parts of Odisha experienced scorching heat with the temperature soaring to 40 degree Celsius in three places. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that though there will be thunderstorm, lightning and strong wind at one or two places over some parts of coastal and interior districts, the day temperature will further rise in the state in the next 48 hours.

According to a morning bulletin, the day temperature recorded in the last 24 hours till 8.30 am on Thursday was highest in Titlagarh at 40.5 degree Celsius followed by Malkangiri (40.2) and Balangir (40).

Apart from this, the temperature remained close to 40 degrees in Chandbali (38.4), Cuttack (39.5), Bhubaneswar (39.2), Angul (38.7), Baripada (38.5), Jharsuguda (38), Sambalpur (38), Bhawanipatna (38), Sonepur (38.8), Nayagarh (39) and Paralakhemundi (39.2).

Talking to mediapersons here, director of Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, HR Biswal said that the day temperature will go up by 2-3 degree Celsius in the coastal and interior districts and continue for three days in the next 48 hours from Saturday till April 6.

He said that IMD has issued a yellow warning for the following districts under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over north interior Odisha and its neighbourhood.

April 3
Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsingpur, Gajapati, Koraput and Rayagada.

April 4
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching up to 30-40 kmph over the districts of Ganjam, Nayagarh, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak and thunderstorm with lightning over the districts of Gajapti, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Dhenkanal and Boudh.

April 5
Thunderstorm with lightning over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam and Mayurbhanj.

April 6
Thunderstorm with lightning over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal.
