Konark: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visited the Konark Sun Temple and Interpretation Centre in Odisha’s Puri district on Tuesday ahead of the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention to be held in Bhubaneswar.
Jaishankar, who reached Bhubaneswar on Monday evening, began his cultural sojourn at the Interpretation Centre in Konark in the morning. The centre offers visitors insights into the historical and cultural significance of Konark, providing a deeper understanding of the regional heritage.
Sources said Jaishankar and his wife were all praise for the ancient architect of Odisha and also visited the Interpretation Centre in Konark. At the Interpretation Centre, Jaishankar and his wife were given a detailed account of the rich culture and history behind the construction of the Sun Temple.
Later in the afternoon, Jaishankar and his family members are scheduled to visit the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri and pay obeisance to the sibling deities.
Meanwhile, several Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) have started arriving in Bhubaneswar to attend the three-day Pravasi Bharatiya Divas conference from Wednesday. Some of them travelled to Puri for the darshan of Lord Jagannath and siblings.
