Odisha Fake Doctor’s Second Wife, A Doctor, Arrested

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police have arrested the second wife of Ramesh Chandra Swain, who failed his Matriculate exams but allegedly married at least 18 women by posing as a doctor and duped them of lakhs of rupees.

His second wife Kamala Swain was arrested from Jharkhand. She is a doctor and worked at Jamnagar in Gujarat. She was absconding since Ramesh’s arrest.

She was arrested for allegedly being involved in Ramesh’s offences.

A pink team, comprising women from different areas of expertise, has been formed to investigate into the frauds committed by Ramesh.

Ramesh married at least 18 middle-aged women, including two Supreme Court lawyers, a Delhi school teacher, a police officer and doctor and duped them of their money before abandoning them.

Ramesh’s sister Rashmita was arrested on February 23. She allegedly told the women her brother married and duped that he was a doctor.

Ramesh, a father of five, was arrested on February 14. He married his first wife in 1982 and second wife in 2002. He met the other women he married on matrimonial websites between 2002 and 2020.
