Bhubaneswar: A group of Odisha farmers’ outfits staged a ‘chakka jam’ on Thursday to protest against new farm laws implemented by the Union government recently.
The farmers, under Navnirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS), blocked the National Highway near Bhubaneswar, reported ANI.
Police used force to disperse the gathering and detained some of the protesters.
“We’re also demanding an increase in the relief fund for damages to crops incurred due to flood and cyclone,” said NKS’ national convener.
Parliament passed three agriculture bills in the last week of September.
