Bhubaneswar: Odisha FC has secured an exemption from the Club Licensing Committee of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to participate in the national club competitions for 2020-21, including ISL-7 which begins on Friday.
“We would like to assure all the fans and various stakeholders in the Odisha football circuit that the club shall take part in the Indian Super League for 2020-21 as planned. We look forward to your support over the course of the season.”
According to the AIFF, five ISL clubs – Odisha FC, NorthEast United FC, Kerala Blasters FC, Hyderabad FC and SC East Bengal — failed to secure the AFC and National licences for the 2020-21 season. They had the option of either appealing against the decision of the Club Licensing Committee or apply for an exemption.
Odisha FC sought an exemption and was granted one.
The Bhubaneswar-based side will open its campaign in ISL-7 with a clash against Hyderabad FC on November 23 at GMC Stadium, Bambolim.
