Bhubaneswar: Odisha FC shrugged off the disappointment of the opening defeat in their Durand Cup campaign with a gutsy 2-1 win against Rajasthan United on Friday.
After a goalless first half, Chandra Murmu scored four minutes after the change of ends to hand Odisha FC the lead in the Group F clash at SAI Stadium in Assam’s Kokrajhar.
Their joy was shortlived as Denzel levelled scores three minutes later.
Much to their relief, 19-year-old forward Ashangbam Singh found the target just past the hpur-mark to restore Odisha’s lead.
They hung on to the slender advantage for the next half hour to record their first win in the tournament.
Odisha FC, who lost to Army Red four days ago, will face local outfit Bodoland FC in their final group league fixture on August 19.
