Keonjhar: The Ramachandrapur Police on Monday sent 28 construction workers to a government quarantine centre.
According to reports, the workers were engaged in road construction work in Tulati under Korei block of Jajpur district. However, the construction work was stopped due to the lockdown.
The plight of these workers worsened after the district administration declared Korei block as a containment zone. As the contractor did not take any step to provide them with food and shelter, the workers decided to return to their village in Keonjhar district by foot.
However, on their way back home, they were stopped by the Ramchandrapur police near Jarda check post on Monday. Police later sent to the government quarantine centre in Keonjhar for 14 days.
