Bhubaneswar: With 14 persons testing positive for COVID-19 in Katikata village in Jajpur district on Thursday, the total positive cases in the village has gone up 20.
Briefing the media here, I & PR secretary, Sanjay Singh said that out of 269 families in Katikata, the district administration had taken the samples of 200 people of which 14 have tested positive for the virus. The district administration has sent more samples from Katikata for the test, he added.
Stating that six positive cases were earlier reported from Katikata village, Singh said had the district administration not declared this area a containment zone, the situation would have gone out of hand as these COVID-19 patients would have infected a large number people in the district as well as the state as a whole.
He, however, said that people need not panic as Kakitaka is still a containment zone.
